Vereb Appointed to Chair Subcommittee on Courts
Rep. Mike Vereb (R-Montgomery) announced today that he has been selected to chair the Subcommittee on Courts of the Judiciary Committee in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“I am honored to have been chosen to chair the Subcommittee on Courts,” Vereb said. “Courts across Pennsylvania are facing higher and higher case loads, which slows down the judicial process and spreads thin judicial resources. I am looking forward to working with my fellow committee members on how to solve these issues and improve Pennsylvania’s judicial system.”
The Subcommittee on Courts is responsible for addressing merit selection proposals, the establishment of problem-solving courts (for example, drug courts or DUI courts), judiciary funding and fee proposals, legislation creating new judicial positions and issues dealing with court policies and procedures.
House Republican Leader Sam Smith (R-Armstrong/Indiana/Jefferson) appointed Vereb to serve as chair.
Vereb has served on the House Judiciary Committee since 2009. He also currently serves on the House Gaming Oversight and Insurances committees. This is his first subcommittee chairmanship.
